One of the frequent questions I receive is” how do I add page numbers to my document without a number appearing on my first page”? This apparently is very perplexing to a lot of folks. The good news is that this is very easy to accomplish and it only takes a few seconds.
Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Click Insert | Page Numbers.
- You can now select the location and style you would like.
- Should you not want a page number to appear on your first page, select Different First Page.
- If you would like your numbering to begin with 1 on the second page, go to Page Number | Format Page Numbers, and set Start at to 0 (zero).
- Once you have completed this, choose Close Header and Footer or press Esc.
Now that you are finished, and you take a discerning look at your header suppose you decide you want to change it somehow?
This is very simple to do. Simply double-click in your header or footer area. It will open and you can easily make any changes you like.
