There are times, however, when viewing your document in this way doesn't work for you. (i.e., very wide documents, screens with low resolution). […]

Subscribers: Create a Sidehead in your Word Document

Sidehead?  What in the world is a sidehead??  A lot of folks scratch their heads when I mention this topic as they have never heard of a sidehead. Well sideheads are document headings that are in the margin of your document rather than in the body of your document.  Something new, to shake things up […]

Determine the Day of the Year in Macros in Excel

This tip may not be for everyone, but for those who  write macros in VBA and have a need for it, it will certainly be appreciated.

Sometimes when you are creating a macro in VBA, there comes a time when you need to determine the current day of the year.  For example, you might want to know that March 15 is the 74th  day of the year.

Luckily, VBA includes a nifty little function that will allow you to speedily determine the current day of the year and the bonus is – it’s very easy to to!

Follow the steps below to learn how:

iThisDay = DatePart(“y”, Date)

When executed,  iThisDay will be equal to the current day number.

As you know, when you select a cell in your worksheet in Excel, you can see the contents of that cell in your Formula Bar.  If, however, the content is longer that what can be displayed in a single line on your Formula Bar, the depth of the Bar will grow so that your entire […]

In some instances, when working with this information, it becomes necessary to extract records based on different criteria.
