Ahhh Summer…

Well it’s that time again!  I do hope that you enjoy this new newsletter format.  Yes, it has had some glitches and some bugs but I think you have more access to more information now and you can even search for the topic of your choice!  Please let me know what you think of it.  I really am interested to know your thoughts.

It has been a busy summer for me.  It seems like the days just fly by.  I am always doing something it seems but that is a good thing.  I am not a good sitter at all and even if I am sitting then my hands are busy knitting or crocheting.  Right now I have a sweater for a baby boy on my knitting needles and three different afghans in different stages on my crochet hook and in addition I try to knit a couple of dishcloths or face cloths every week.  Wow, it kind of makes me tire to read that.  I also take a two to three mile walk in the mornings (weather permitting) before I start my work day.  It clears out the cobwebs from my brain and then I know I can relax and I won’t have to do it at the end of my day when I rarely feel like doing it.

We just celebrated Independence day here.  I spent the day with my daughter, son-in-law and grandsons.  I had a great time.  We ate steamed crabs on the patio and enjoyed the sun and the breeze.  It doesn’t get much better than that for me unless I had my son, his wife and my granddaughters there too.

There is a Grey Jay next in the bush just outside my kitchen window.  There were three or four little blue eggs in it and before I knew it there was a mama sitting on those eggs and then in quick progression there was a papa bird too and some hungry mouths waiting to be fed.  I really enjoy watching the birds.  We had a terrible thunderstorm late this afternoon and I was worried that the poor baby birds would drown.  I looked into the next and there was mama with her wings spread over her babies to keep them warm and dry.  What we mothers won’t do for out little ones eh?

I hope you have all been well and are enjoying the summer months and that you got to celebrate whatever holiday it is that you celebrate during the summer months!

Add Animation to an Object in PowerPoint 2010

Animation definitely has its place in some PowerPoint presentations. When you would like to animate an object you will find that it is not terribly difficult to do.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. Select the object you would like to animate.
  2. On the Animations tab of your Ribbon, in the Animation group, click the drop-down arrow and select the animation effect you would like to use.
  3. If you do not see the entrance, exit, emphasis, or motion path animation effect that you want, click More Entrance Effects, More Emphasis Effects, More Exit Effects, or More Motion Paths.
  4. After you have applied an animation to an object or text, the animated items are labeled on the side with a non-printing numbered tag, displayed near the text or object. The tag will only appear in Normal view when the Animations tab is selected or the Animation task pane is visible.

Header and Footer codes in Excel

Excel comes right out of the box with codes you can use in the header and footer of your worksheets. They are designed to make it easier for you to include predefined information in your worksheet headers and footers. You can see some of them in the Header or Footer dialog boxes when you click on Custom Header or Footer by clicking a button. Others you have to enter directly.

Command codes are indicated in Excel headers and footers by keying in an ampersand character (&) followed by the command. Below are the codes you can use for some commands.

&D – Current date

&T – Current Time

&F – Workbook name

&A – Worksheet name (from the worksheet tab)

&P – Current page number

&P+X – Current page number plus x

&P-X – Current page number minus x

&N – total pages in your workbook

&& – Ampersand character

Now you are all set to include information in your Excel headers and footers!
