Happy Easter – Happy Passover

Hard to believe that Easter and Passover are upon us isn’t it?  I cannot believe I just said that!  I have been waiting and pining for Spring!  We have had such a long winter it seems and so much snow and ice this year!

I have been counting the days until warm weather.  I usually get one cold a year and then I’m good to go, but this year it was a sinus infection and then a cold and then allergies. So finally we have some beautiful weather, sunshine and temps in the seventies.  I was in my glory!  Warm weather at last!  And the peepers are singing in the woods – a regular symphony!  Life is good! And then tonight the weather forecast was for the temps to fall at least thirty degrees in the next day or two and we could have some snow!  Spring time why oh why do you keep eluding me???

But hope springs eternal!  Easter will be this weekend and Passover starts on Tuesday regardless of the weather.  I have Hyacinths in bloom and even some Daffodils.  It has to get warm and stay warm sooner or later.

My neighbor down the road lost most of his fence this winter.  The force of the snow when the plow comes through knocked it down.  It looks so sad and forlorn when you pass by it.  I think that I shall offer to help them put it back up.  Not sure what I can do to help but I will offer – at the very least I could feed them while they work!

That brings me to another subject!  In preparation for Easter, yesterday I made eight dozen handmade Easter eggs, Vanilla Buttercream, Coconut Buttercream and Peanut Butter Cream.  I have also been busy knitting ducklings for the grandchildren’s baskets.  Thus far I have three finished and one more to go!  Then I have to stuff them and sew them all up!  So yes, Spring will be here regardless of the weather.  It is, after all, our spirit that makes Spring come alive for us isn’t it?

I hope that you will find it in your hearts to help your neighbor with their fence or whatever chore they need help with and I hope that you and yours will enjoy a lovely holiday whether it be Easter or Passover.

Let me know how you celebrate! I love to hear from my readers!

Until next time, take care…

Find Next – FAST!!

Word comes with a very quick and flexible search engine. You can find anything you want in your Word document by just using a key combination shortcut, including non-printing characters!

The on problem (for me, anyway),  is that when I click on CTRL + F to find something in my document, the Navigation pane opens to the left of my screen and obscures some of the text in my document so that I cannot see everything horizontally.

I have found a way around this and will now share it with you!

  1. Follow the steps below to learn how:
  2. Use the Navigation pane as you normally would.
  3. Once you have found the first occurrence of what you are looking for, click your ESC key and the Navigation pane will disappear.
  4. To find the next occurrence, simply click Shift + F4.

This workaround works the same as clicking Next Search Result only it is FAST and saves time and keystrokes!

My Page Looks Like Graph Paper!!!

I wish I had a nickel for every phone call I have received with this plaint. It happens all too frequently but luckily it is very easy to fix and it makes me look good when I can resolve the callers problem very quickly.

When I get these calls, it generally starts with: “All of a sudden every time I open word it looks like graph paper and I can’t get rid of it.”

There are a couple of reasons that the graph paper problem could have occurred, the simplest of which is that you or someone else has accidentally turned on the Drawing Grid in word. If that is the cause of the problem, it can easily be resolved following the steps below:

  1. Click on the View tab of your Ribbon.
  2. In the Show group, de-select the Gridlines check box.

Show Group

If, when you look in the Show group and see that Gridlines has not been selected, then your problem could be associated with a background image.

In that instance, follow these steps to resolve the problem:

  1. Click on the Page Layout tab of your Ribbon.
  2. In the Page Background group, click Page Color to display a drop-down.
  3. Click on No color.

No color

Page Backgroumnd

If your page  continues to look like graph paper, close Word and then use the tools in Windows to find your Normal template file. You can then rename it to something like OldNormal.dotx and then reopen Word. If the graph paper grid is gone, then you know that it was because of something stored in your Normal template and you can let Word create a new Normal template for you.

Subscribers: Tab Stops Using Leaders in Word

I am sure you all know how to set tab stops in your Word documents by now.  If not, I am sure it has been covered in an earlier post. Word gives you complete control regarding which characters (to a certain extent)  you can insert  in the  blank space created by the tab you insert […]
