It is my favorite time of year – Christmas! It prompts me to reflect on all the things in my life I am grateful for, especially this year. There are so many people suffering and dying, that at times it is very difficult for me to see my many blessings. Having said that, I am making a big effort every single day, especially during this season, to stop and think of all the positive things in my life. I have found that if I do something nice for someone else, even it it is a stranger, it makes me feel better. So it’s a win win situation, that person feels better and so do I!
I will be quarantining for ten days prior to Christmas and so will my daughter and her family. That way, we will feel reasonably safe having a socially distant, mask wearing Christmas together. When my daughter told my grandsons that they might not be able to be with me this year, the oldest child was very upset. So we are doing all we can to make this Christmas merry.
I hope that all of you, whether you are surrounded by family and friends or alone, enjoy a joyful holiday season. And please, if you are feeling less than festive, give it a try – do something kind for someone else. I promise, it will make you feel better. Sometimes, it’s just a phone call, or make some muffins for a neighbor. It does not have to be a grand gesture. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest impact.
Until next time, please take care and be safe. And remember, Christmas hugs are the absolute very best!
Merry Christmas!
