This so easy that you will wonder why you have not used it all along. I am certain that you will use it all the time now that you have learned how easy it is!
Select the cell that has the conditional formatting that you want to copy.
On your Home tab (or the Standard toolbar in Excel for Mac 2011), click Format
and then select the cells where you want to copy the conditional formatting.

Bullets and numbers both are indented 0.25″ from your left margin in a list. The next text is then indented 0/50″ from the left margin. This is the default setting, but you can change the position of these indents in a list. Not only that, but these skills can come in very handy, especially when you have received a documenting which a list has been modified many times. The appearance of the list can be altered greatly.
It can also be useful if you just feel like you would like to change the indents or spacing . You don’t have to have a reason! There is no rule that I know of that you always have to use the Microsoft Word default settings. Knowing how to make these changes can be tremendously.
Follow the steps below to learn how:
First, to define a new multilevel list, click the Multilevel List button, found on your Home tab in the Paragraph group. Once you have done that, near the bottom, select Define New Multilevel List. The Define new Multilevel list will appear.
As you can see, they can have up to nine levels. On the left of the screenshot above, you will see a column of numbers 1 to 9. Each of them represents the those levels and if you click on one, the corresponding level will become active in the box to the right. You can begin by selecting the first level and define that level using the options in the Number format section.
The bottom section of the Define New Multilevel List window has a section for Position. Here, you can set the alignment, where it aligns to and the ext indentation for each level individually. You can also set it for all levels at once using the Set for All Levels button. Once you have made your choices and defined your new list, click OK.
Your new list will appear in List Library for use throughout your document.
Should you want to change the font formatting for your new list style, you can click the Font button in the Define New Multilevel list window to open the Font window. You will find that the Font window has options for changing your font, font style, size, color, underline style and color, and font effects. You can elect to change any of these options just like you would any text in Word. Once you have made your selections, click OK to apply your changes. Your format has now been changed.
Now I will ask y you to go back and read the first paragraph of this article.
Ok, so now you can change the indents of a list. Select the list and right-click and select Adjust List Indents from the menu.
The Adjust List Indents window will appear and you will see that there are several options available to you. Using the arrow on your right, you can change the amount of the indentation of the bullet or number from the left margin. The next option i s Text indent. The arrows on your right can be used to change the amount that text is indented from the left margin.
The third option in the Adjust List Indents window is Follow bullet (or number) with. The default option is Tab character, which will add a tab to the next indentation. To the right you will see a drop-down arrow. If you click it, you will see a list of three choices.
The Space option will remove the Tab and simply insert a single space between the bullet or number and your text.
The Nothing option will remove all space between your bullet or number and your text.
Once you have made your choices, simply click OK to apply them.
You can also change the spacing on an individual list item by choosing just that item and from the Adjust Line Indents window and make any changes you would like.
Did you know that you are able to change the default settings for new documents by making changes to the Normal template that new documents are based on?
Well, the good news is that you can modify your Normal template to change its default formatting and/or content so that any new document that you create will use your new settings.

Should you unintentionally modify your Normal template, fear not. you can every easily restore the default behavior by deleting, renaming, or moving it. The Normal template will be automatically recreated the next time you open Word. Having said that, the same cannot be said for other templates. You should always create a copy of any other template before you change it.

Most styles in Word are based on the Normal style. Changing the default font also changes the Normal style, which will affect any other style that is built on the Normal style.

Changing your default layout in any template means that the section breaks, headers and footers, and other layout attributes will be used in every new document that is based on that template. (i.e., the layout attributes for new blank documents are based on the Normal template).

Open your template or a document based on your template whose default settings you would like to change.
On the Format menu, click Document | Layout.
Make any changes that you would like and click Default.
Changing other default settings in your Normal template
You are able to customize your Normal template and change default settings for many different things in your document (i.e., text formatting, paragraph formatting, document formatting, styles, text, pictures, AutoText entries, and keyboard shortcuts.
To make changes to Normal.dotm, you must open the file from Word. If you open Normal.dotm from the Finder, Word will create a new blank document based on the template.
Should you make extensive changes to your Normal template, I strongly suggest that you periodically back up your file. It is very easy to back up your Normal template. Simply copy your file and rename it, or move it to another location.
You now know a lot more about this that I would suspect you knew previously. That is a good thing!

So, do you know how to add a hyperlink in VBA to a certain word such that every time that certain word sows up in your document it has the hyperlink in it? Yeah, I cannot tell a lie – I did not know how to do it either. Luckily a very intelligent woman named Rhonda DID know how and I read her articles. So Rhonda gets all the credit here.

There are a couple of methods to accomplish this.
Method One: Find and Replace
This method is best employed after your document is completed.
Step 1: Set up your link
Step 2: Find other instances of the word/phrase and replace with the hyperlinked word/phrase
Press Shift + 6 to get the caret symbol and make certain there are no spaces, and key in a lower case ‘c’).
Method 2: AutoText
Instead of find/replace, you could set up the hyperlinked word/phrase as AutoText and then insert that as you needed it. This method is best used when you are writing your document, and is ideal if you have something like a company name that you would like to have linked to a URL across many documents.

One of my subscribers contacted me recently asking for help with an issue he was having. It seems as if he has a document that contains a list of pages and numbers that precedes each paragraph. He would like to change the font color for both the word “Page” and the number, without actually changing the number itself. He had a couple of ploys but could not get it to work for him.
Luckily, this is not a difficult thing to do. And even more luckily, I had just recently red an article about this and so it was fresh in my memory.

The {1,} after the [0-9] tells Word to find any numeral that is one digit or more (e.g. 1, 15, 235, 5467, 21678 etc.). If you wanted to find two or more numerals together (e.g. 25, 235, but not 5), you would use {2,}, and if you wanted one to three digit numbers (i.e. 1 to 999, and NOT 1234, 123454 etc.), then you would use {1,3} where 1 is the least number of characters to be found and 3 is the most.
This worked perfectly for my client and I hope it does the same for you!
