Alas summer is winding down and soon the kiddos will be back to school, the leaves will be falling and I will be fretting about big family holiday meals and celebrations.  Yes, I fret, but I also love doing all of it.

I have been having my granddaughters for the day once a week this summer and I have thoroughly enjoyed it and will miss them when school starts.

Sadly it seems that demon Covid is rearing its head again with a new and more dangerous variant.  I would give anything to go back to when we didn’t have this and I long for the day when we can say remember what it was like before we found the vaccine that would rid us of Covid? I firmly believe that day will come and hopefully everyone will be getting the vaccine.

Please remember to look out for those who need help and please be generous with your smiles and greetings.  Especially now, it can be the only high point in someone’s life.

More Than One Way To Close A Word Document in 365

So we have covered all the ways to open a document in Word, and now it is just fitting that we cover the ways to close documents. This is much, much shorter and easier.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Close button (i.e., the X in the upper-right corner of your window). Only your document will be closed, not the program.
  2. Or, on your File tab, select Close.
  3. And there is my favorite, you guessed it, a shortcut! Alt + F4.

Easy peasy!

 

Opening Files in Word 365 Refresher

Yes, I know it is one of the most basic things that we do in Word, but believe it or not, there are folks among us who can benefit from this information, perhaps even you!

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. Click the File tab, select Open or press Ctrl + O (you know I love a good shortcut!).
  2. You should now see the Open window, which will list the files you have recently opened as well as files you
    pinned to the Recent list.
  3. If you see the name of the file you would like to open on the Recent list, click on it.
  4. If the name is not  on the list, go to Step 3 below. Click the location — This PC, OneDrive, a network folder — where the file is located.Click This PC if the file is located on your computer.
  5. Select the folder where your file is stored.
  6. If the folder is not shown in the Open window, click the Browse button and select the
    folder in the Open dialog.
  7. The Open dialog box will appear.
  8. Select your file.
  9. Click Open.
    Your file opens.  Now you have the full skinny on opening files!
