Of course, you know that Word will allow you to specify and indent from your left margin on a need to basis. That is to say, you can have different margins for every paragraph in your document should you desire.
The indent value you set for your paragraph is added to the left margin value for the page, thus knowing how far the left side of your paragraph should appear in relation to the left edge of your paper.
There are some occasions when one may want a negative indent for a paragraph and fortunately, this is extremely easy to do.
Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Select the paragraph(s) whose margins you would like to change.
- On the Home tab of your Ribbon, in the Paragraph group, click on the little arrow at the bottom right to display the paragraph dialog box.
- Be certain the Indents and Spacing tab has been selected.
- Use the drop-down at the Left to set a negative value (i. e., 0.5, .25, etc.).
- Click on OK.
