It is late August and I am finally having a small vacation at the beach. This time of year is usually a bit melancholy for me. One season is grinding to a halt and the other is about to begin. So in a few weeks time I will be happy again, looking forward to Autumn, while right now I begin to mourn the end of Summer. Silly isn’t it? But it is who I am and that’s just how it is!
I have had a very nice and fun filled summer. I have spent lots of quality time with my grandchildren and have been busy knitting for babies that have not yet made their appearance. I am also currently busy knitting sweaters for cool Autumn days and crotcheting blankets for little ones to snuggle under on cold Winter nights. I think I may try my hand at knitting a shawl as well if I have time. I like a shawl round my shoulder of a cool evening.
How about you? What have you been doing all summer?
My borrowed words of wisdom for this month are :
Use what talents you possess;
the woods would be very silent if no birds sang
except those that sang best…Henry Van Dyke
Never try to be someone or something you aren’t. You are you! You were made to be special and unique so use the talents you possess and leave the world a little better for it. It doesn’t seem like anything gargantuan at the time, but trust me, any small thing you do and do well, makes a much larger ripple in the pond of life than you think.
Below, is a photo of a small sweater and booties I have knitted for the daughter of a friend of mine who is about to bring her son into the world. It was a lot of fun to knit and I am anxiously awaiting a picture of him wearing it.
Now I am working on a sweater for my two youngest grandchildren. Busy, busy, busy!!
I hope this finds you well…
