[May 15, 2010]
The weather has been absolutely lovely in my region of the country. It has felt like Summer rather than Spring for the last week or two. Well that all changed on Saturday evening. Wow, the temps dropped and last night the temperature went right down to the forties. A bit nippy for Springtime! But I suppose in a week or so it will be balmy once again. Right now we are saving on our air conditioning bills.
I am still taking my early morning walks and they continue to be very enjoytable. I find it very helpful to ease into my day in this manner. I arrive back at the office full of energy and in a good frame of mind. You should try it and see if you don't like it too. I have been trying to find ways to put more activity into my days and I have been sleeping well as a result.
I am continuing to wade through my e-mail and attempting to answer any inquiries that have been sent me, so I hope that you will continue to be patient if you have not yet received a reply to any e-mails you have sent my way.
The quote for the day is: Opportunity knocks but once, but temptation bangs on your door all the days of you life.

A Free Way to Make Office 2007 Have the Classic Look
UBitMenu is a simple and free way to bring back the classic 2003 menus and toolbars to your Office 2007 programs.
You will get all the traditional pull down menus plus two long rows of toolbar buttons. The menus are mostly the same as you were used to in Office 2003 with some minor changes to allow for the 2007 improvements. There is no Most Recently Used (MRU) List but that is a minor inconvenience and you can go back to the Office button for that.
This little utility installs easily and has hardly any impact on performance. You can download it here for free. For easy setup, select the .exe version for your preferred language, download and install.
A corporate version is also available for a very reasonable fee.
Convert Uppercase to Lowercase in Excel Worksheets
Use the LOWER function to convert all uppercase letters in a text string to lowercase. The LOWER function is in the Text category in the Insert Function dialog box.
For instance, if you have CAROL A. BRATT in cell A1, use this formula:
=LOWER(A1)
The result will be carol a. bratt.
Customize the Default Date Separator in MS Excel
MS Excel recognizes a number as a date by its date format, which uses a slash as a separator.
To change the default setting for the date, follow the steps below:
- Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel | Regional and Language Options.
- In Regional Options, select Customize.
- Select the Date tab and in the Date separator drop-down list, change the slash to a dot.
- Click Apply
- Click OK.
That's it! Very easy!
