[January 15, 2010]

Let me start this issue with an apology. When the first issue of the year was published, 1 and 1, the company that hosts my site, had a server glitch and the e-mail that I sent to everyone letting them know the January 1st issue was available, was dated January 1, 2008 and so more than likely it was buried deeply in your e-mail Inbox,. For this I apologize. I have been assured by the good folks at 1 and 1 that this problem has been resolved now and am hopeful that you will receive your e-mail in the normal timely fashion.

I stood at the window one morning this week at 6:30 a.m. and thought to myself...brrr....it looks to cold and desolate out there; it gave me a shudder. But then some energy kicked in I guess because I told myself - you're on the right side of the dirt Carol so it's a pretty beautiful day after all. Sometimes it's all in your perspective isn't it? It has been so terribly cold in our region for the past couple of weeks! I was outdoors the other night admiring the stars and it was bitterly cold. At times like that I sometimes get the feeling I am the only person in the world. Like I said, it was bitterly cold but beautiful at the same time. There is nothing like a dark country sky full of stars. It was sixteen degrees when I left my humble abode one morning this week! Great sleeping weather if only I had more time to sleep in!

Please join me in welcoming Lane, Denise, Cheryl, Sandy, and Elaine as the latest premium subscribers to Carol's Word Bytes Newsletter. Welcome to the family! Saving All Open Documents

MS Word allows you to have multiple documents open at the same time. You can also view those documents at the same time. MS Word makes it extremely easy to work on several documents during one session. Sometimes, however, when you have been hard at it, working on all those open documents you cannot always remember which ones you have saved and which you haven't, before ending your session in MS Word.

To learn how to save all your open documents, follow the steps below:

  • Depress your Shift key and click on the File icon simultaneously.
  • When the resulting menu opens, you may notice that a command appears on that menu that normally is not there and that is the Save All command, which replaces the normal Save command. Depressing your Shift key adds the All qualifier that takes the place of the Save command.
  • Select the Save All command and you will then be asked if you want each document saved. You can click either yes or no to reply.
