Happy New Year!
Wow! It does not seem possible that an entire year has gone by yet again! I have been very fortunate to meet many new people this year, some of whom have had a profound effect on my life. I have learned a lot this year, although not enough! I have been blessed with uncommonly good health during the past year and intend to work at staying healthy in 2010. Our family of newsletter subscribers has grown in leaps and bounds during 2009. I am humbled by your confidence in me. So many changes have taken place in the last year, mostly good ones. Let's all strive to make 2010 another good year and hopefully a peaceful one.
We had a huge snowfall just before Christmas that dumpled about twenty inches of snow on us. It was absolutely beautiful for a short while - pristine white snow drifting and blowing. I was not sad about it melting a couple of days later though. We are experiencing a very cold snap in our part of the country right now. As far as I am concerned, it's just a countdown to Springtime now. Every day is a bit longer and it gives me something to look forward to.
Please join me in welcoming John, Linda, Adrian, Brantley, Dwight, Yves, William, and Michael, as the latest premium subscribers to Carol's Word Bytes Newsletter. Welcome to the family! If you know someone who struggles with an application in Microsoft Office, like Word or Excel, do them a favor and tell them about our newsletter. They will always thank you for it!

Quickly Move Bullet Points to Another Slide
MS PowerPoint 's Outline pane displays most of the content of a presentation. Anything you add to a text box will show up in the Outline pane.
As you most likely know, you can arrange slides in Outline view by simply utilizing the Move Up and Move Down buttons ont he Outlining toolbar. What you may not know is that you can also move text and bullet points from slide to slide.
Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Highlight the text or bullet.
- Click and Drag.
You can't say that isn't quick and easy!
Quickly Display Page Setup Dialog Box in MS Word
MS Word's Page Layout dialog box allows you to define margins, layout, etc. for your document. Most folks use it quite frequently. They also access it by clicking on File | Page Setup, which doesn't take forever to do, but why not save more time if you can?
Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Double-click the Vertical ruler anywhere to display the Page Setup dialog box.
If you double-click the actual ruler display in the horizontal ruler, the Tabs dialog box will be displayed. If you want to dispaly the Page Setup dialog box via the horizontal ruler, click the gray edge on either side.
Quick Printing Trick in MS Word
A lot of you already know that to print from a specific page to the end of the document in MS Word, you enter the beginning page number and a value that is higher than the total number of pages in the document. For example, if you wanted to print from page 8 to the end of the document and you know that the document has less than fifty pages, you might enter 8-50 in the Page Range field.
- But, guess what - it really isn't necessary to enter the second page number value. The hyphen character tells MS Word to print to the end of the document.
- Alternatively, this technique will also work when printing from the first to a specific page. Simply enter -10 into the Page Range field and MS Word will print from the first page to page ten.
