[November 15, 2009]

It is dreary and raining as I sit here creating the newsletter. One would never know that just a few short days ago I was in North Carolina and it was sunny and warm like summer. I do love the hospitality of the south; everyone is so genteel and polite. I guess that's why I like to visit there.

But back to reality! It is chilly and rainy and I am scrambling to get caught up with everything that wasn't done while I was away and now it's two and a half weeks from Thanksgiving! Wow! Where did that time go for pity sakes! I know the holidays are getting closer and closer because every day my mailbox is inundated with catalogs and I do mean inundated! So much paper being wasted!

I made the annual phone call today to find a family to adopt for Christmas. I am sure there are plenty in need this year moreso than years gone by. I have a lot of fun buying toys for children who otherwise would not have a Christmas. It just makes you feel good to do something for someone else you know? My family and I really get into it. We purchase all the fixings for a holiday meal and we finish it off with homemade cookies, pies and cakes. We always ask for a wish list for our family and the adult is always reluctant to give us one but everyone deserves a visit from Santa right? You really see kindness this time of year; everyone wants to help us out with our family. Let's hope the spirit will continue for the rest of the year!

We also recently celebrated Veterans Day here to thank all of our service men and women and remember those who have gone before. Thank you to all of you who protect us and keep our country free!

Wherever you hale from, I hope that you are all gearing up for this festive time of year. Please try remember to stay calm and try to keep a few moments to savor and enjoy.

Please join me in welcoming K. Case, Timothy, Steven, Chris, Richard, Giscard, James K., Gord, Anthony, Michael, Dennis, Russell Mc., Russel R., William, Scott, Van, Victor, and Rita, as the latest premium subscribers to Carol's Word Bytes Newsletter.
