[May 15, 2009]

I'm not sure where all of you live, but where I live we have had lots and lots of rain. 'Tis true that it brings about the greening of the trees and beautiful flowers, but I am due for some good old sunshine! Our water table is in good shape and I think I am going to start doing the anti-rain dance pretty soon. It is nice to have the windows open and hear the birds sing this time of year. The honeysuckle is just starting to perfume the air in the evenings and its so peaceful to sit in the dusk of the evenings and watch the show the wildlife peforms for you.

I'm still busy but have learned to take some time for myself, otherwise all work and no play makes Carol a very dull girl. So I have been trying to visit the gym at least three nights a week. The treadmill can be boring but my spin class is always great - lots of great music to spin to - sometimes I think I'd rather jump off the bike and just dance!

I guess Springtime brings out the adventurer in us because I have gotten all manner of e-mails asking me how to use features in MS Word, etc. It is very gratifying to me when I am able to help the light bulb turn on for someone who is trying to master something that seems insurmountable to them until they finally understand it. I hope that I am able to help some of you untangle the mysteries of MS Office with this newsletter. If there is still something you do not understand, please let me know.

Let's get to the tips now!

View Animated GIFs in MS Outlook 2007

MS Outlook 2007 does not animate GIFs in your e-mail messages. Instead, it displays the first frame of the GIF only. In order to see the animated GIF it is necessary to open your HTML message in your browser to view the animation.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. Open the message.
  2. Click the Other Actions button in the Action group.
  3. From the submenu, select View in Browser.

Use Views in your browser to view any HTML message that does not display correctly in MS Outlook or when you would like to print a message and better options than MS Outlook's print option offers.

There may be times when you will want to change your default tray assignments in your printer. When that occurs, follow the steps below:

Click on File | Page Setup.

Click on the Paper Source tab.

Make your printer tray selections.

Click the Default button to change the Default tray assignments.

MS Word will now inform you that the change will affect all documents based on the Normal template.
