Well again, I am not going by the calendar this year, but I can tell you that Spring is creeping in. I can hear the peepers at dusk every evening and that is a sure sign that Spring has sprung! It is music to my ears to hear the frogs singing in the evenings. I keep my ear tuned from February 1st every year waiting to hear the peepers chorus and then and only then do I know that Spring has arrived.
I hope that all of you, wherever you reside in this big globe of ours is feeling a lightening of spirit as Spring arrives. I love this time of year and I am busy as busy can be what with the bi-montly newsletter and articles written for other publications. I am going to be a part of a technology expo in Towson, Maryland on March 25th in the Armory on Washington Avenue. If you live in the area or will be visiting, please make it a point to stop by and say hello. There will be many technology vendors present and I am sure it will be a very interesting expo. Your are sure to enjoy yourself and perhaps learn something as well.
Let's get to the tips now!

Cool Laptops
As you know, I do not normally write articles about specific hardware or software unless I have used it and found it to be beneficial, a good product and at a good price.
This is one of those occasions.
I don't know about you, but I have a laptop and I try to take it with me wherever I go. When we were on vacation last summer, down south, there really was no comfortable place for me to sit in our hotel room when I used my laptop so I ended up sitting in a chair with the laptop on my lap. Well I am here to tell you that I could have used some suntan lotion. That little laptop generates quite a bit of heat! I had to cut my online computing short because I couldn't stand the way the laptop was burning me!
Then some months later, along comes Eric, from Laptop Toys and he sent me an Evercool Space Station Wide Screen Cooling Pad for my laptop. Now I am not one who is terribly well versed in hardward. Sure, I can find my way around the innards of a computer and change the memory and such but I do not keep up with all the changes as I should - I just do not have the time! As a matter of fact, this is my first laptop ever!

What a difference this cooling pad has made! I use it all the time now. It keeps any surface where I have my laptop completely cool. It is unique in that it draws the hot air away from the laptop. It is simple to use; it comes with its own USB power cable and all you do is plug it into the USB port on your laptop.
Not only did Eric send me the cooling pad, but he also fitted it with feet which he tells me are for anti-shock and anti-vibration. They are made out of a soft silicone polymer composite. Not only do they grip really well, but they also make the air flow 50% less, so they create better air flow, which means better cooling and lower temperatures for your laptop, thus prolonging its life. The cooling exhaust system exhausts the air through the sides and not the bottom so you have no back pressure with the hot air flowing back to you.
I was so impressed with this little laptop cooler that I thought it merited mention in my newsletter so that my subscribers would have the information should they be in the market for one of these laptop coolers. I heartily recommend it and I heartily recommend Eric and Laptop Toys. Eric is eager to please and his attention to quality is wonderful, so please visit his site and take a look around. I'm sure you will find something there that you just have to have for your laptop!
Casting Your Vote in MS Outlook
When you receive a message in MS Outlook that includes voting buttons, the response buttons appear on the message form between the header and the toolbar. In addition, MS Outlook will display a message in the preview pane if it is open, to prompt you to vote.
Voting is easy. Just click a button to cast your vote. Outlook displays a simple dialog box asking whether you want to send the vote or edit your response.
To send the message without modification, select Send The Response Now.
To cast your vote and open the message as a reply so taht you can include text in your response, select Edit The Response Before Sending.
When you cast a vote, MS Outlook changes the subject of the message to include your vote.
Votes come back to you in the form of messages. You can view the vote summary in a few ways. If the preview pane is displayed, you can click the message and then cluck the summary message in the Infobar. Or you can open the Sent Items folder, open the original message and click the Tracking tab. Either method will display the Tracking tab.
Deleting Words in MS Word
While editing documents, it is not uncommon to delete words, phrases and the occasional sentence. Different people take different approaches to this task. For example, some folks simply select the text and click Delete, while some others my hold down the Delete key, while still others just press the backspace key until the unwanted characters disappear.
If you are in the latter group, and you can spend a lot of time pressing Delete or backspace, you may be interested in a handy shortcut provided by MS Word. All you need do is hold down the CTRL key to speed up this task. Using CTRL + Delete deleted text from the insertion point to the end of the next word. For instance, if you wanted to delete four words to the right, simply press CTRL + Delete four times. Likewise, CTRL + Backspace deletes words to the left of the insertion point.
