Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! I hope you all enjoyed it with your loved one. I remember when my kids were small I used to get them a little box of Hershey Kisses or Whitman Chocolates and I told them they were my little sweethearts. Then, when they were teenagers and didn't have a significant other in their lives, I still got them candy or a stuffed animal to commemorate sweethearts day for them. It never hurts to let those you love know how you feel about them!
We have been getting our share of cold temperatures and snow, ice and "wintry mix" weather where I live. We haven't had great heavy snowfalls mind you, just enough to mess up the roads, close the schools and make driving a pain in the neck. We are fortunate that we have someone who comes and plows our driveway for us as we live in a very rural area and we are very grateful for that. I keep telling myself that Spring isn't too far off. I am not a huge cold weather fan and this miserable cold that I am nursing doesn't make me like it a bit better!

Dell Computer Settlement
I have had two very nasty experiences with the Dell Company, one in which every part had to be replaced in my brand new computer and another when the same thing occurred and they replaced my computer but would refused to give me a computer with the same operating system as the one I had originally purchased. A friend of mine purchased a computer from Dell and was promised (I was on the phone line and heard) that her computer would be shipped with the software to downgrade to Windows XP from Windows Vista, but only if she purchased the most expensive version of Windows Vista in the first place.
Well apparently the Dell company has seen the error of its ways regarding its business practices as they will be paying $3.35 million to 46 U.S. states as a result of a settlement agreement following allegations that they used deceptive practices to sell its products. States had started investigating after many complaints were received.
I thought this was relevant and important enough to include in my newsletter. Customers are eligible for restitution if they purchased a Dell product between April 1, 2005 and April 13, 2009 and have a complaint covered by the above agreement.
The deadline for filing claims is April 13, 2009. To find out if your state is a part of this settlement agreement and for information on filing a claim within the ninety day deadline, contact the office of your State's Attorney General.
Open Multiple Files At Once in MS Office
I am a multi-tasker. I almost always have several applications open at any one time, for instance, when I am creating my newsletter! So, in the interest of saving time, I usually open all of these documents, spreadsheets, etc. all at once.
Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Click on File | Open, or in 2007, click the Office button and Open. You can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + O.
- Find the files you would like to open.
- If the files are contiguous, click on the first one to highlight it and then depress your Shift key and while still holding it down, click on the last item in your list.
- If the files are NOT contiguous, simply click on the first one and then depress your CTRL key and keep it held down while you select your other files.
- Once you have selected your files, click on Open.
NOTE: These files must all reside in the same folder for this method to work.
Copy and Paste MS Excel Row Height
I have had many inquiries regarding this tip and it is such an easy thing to do!
To learn how to copy and paste row height in MS Excel, follow the steps below:
- Select the row you would like to copy.
- Click on the Format Painter icon on your Standard toolbar (or on the Home tab is you are using version 2007).
- You will now see a small paint brush.
- Simply drag it where you would like to copy the row height.
That's all there is to it! You have now copied the format to your new row.
