[July 15, 2008]
We're into July now. Where is the summer going???? It seemingly is just flying past me! Sometimes it seems the hurrier I go, the behinder I get! I'm sure some of you know exactly what I mean don't you?
We are going to take a long weekend in Florida to visit some friends toward the end of this month and already I am worrying about how I will keep everything going while I'm away! We will take a nice leisurely vacation around the end of August or beginning of September when everyplace under the sun isn't so crowded and I can relax, but I will have my trusty laptop with me!
The point is, we all need to take some down-time and recharge our batteries; stop and look at the roses and even smell them from time to time. A relaxed mind and body is more open to new things and I think we are more serene when we stop and take stock of the beauty around us. This is the surely the season with all the beautiful flowers, etc. We have a couple of local wineries where you can take a picnic and stretch out on the lawn with a bottle of vino and listen to a blues band and just kick back and relax for a couple of hours. Perhaps you have something like that where you live.
You get the point - I hope wherever you are, you are taking some time to relax and just be - taking in all the world has to offer to still your senses during these summer months.

Need a Blank Line Above a Table in MS Word?
It is so frustrating after you create your table, have it all formatted the way you want it and have keyed in all your text and then you decide you want to key in text above the table. Ever have that experience? I bet more than a few of you have. You certainly don't want to start over from scratch!
Well you might not believe it but I am going to tell you the simplest way ever to get that blank space above your table so you can key in any sort of text you like leading into your table.
Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Click in the upper left cell of your table. If there is text in that cell, please be sure to put the cursor before your text.
- Tap the Enter key.
That's it! You now have your space before your table. I told you it was really simple didn't I?
Customize Outlook Today
You may or may not have noticed the customize button on the right-hand side of your Outlook Today page, but it is there and if you use it, it is so much easier than searching throughout all the different menus! You all know that I am all about saving time and keystrokes!
Take a look at the upper right-hand side of the Outlook Today window. See it?

Didn't even notice it before did you?
Go ahead and click the Customize Outlook Today button to begin.
You will immediately see a list of choices.
You are now free to make your own decisions regarding which message folders to report, the number of days your calendar should display, which tasks you would like to have in your list, etc. You can select a style for your display and whether or not Outlook Today should be your start up screen in MS Outlook.
The whole process is fairly straightforward and doesn't require a lot of steps.
Go ahead and go through the different choices and make your selections.
Once you are finished, click the Save Changes button in the upper right-hand corner.
There you have it! Your Outlook Today now reflects your choices! Now it is even more helpful than it was in the first place!
Can't Find Shortcuts in MS Word 2007?
If you have recently upgraded to Office 2007 you may be in a quandry as to where the shortcuts are. If you are anything like me, you are absolutely lost without them.
I am here to show you how to retrieve those shortcuts that have always been so helpful to you. Follow the steps below:
- Click on Office Button | Customize or right-click on the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) and select Customize Quick Access Toolbar.

Now that you know where to find it, the rest is pretty intuitive. There are some changes because you are now looking at commands that are based in groups on the ribbon where they will be found instead of the old menus of the past.
- Select a category on the left-hand side.

- Now click on a command on the right-hand side.
- Click the Press New shortcut key field and then actually use the key combination you would like to use to access this shortcut.
- Check the key combination availability. If it is not in use, you are good to go. If not, then you will have to find another key combination to use or, if you don't care about the one listed, you can use it anyway. It's all up to you.
- Once you have verified that you have a key combination that you can use, make sure that Normal is selected in the Save in field.
- Click Assign.
That's it! Ahhh...now you have all your familiar shortcuts back again!
