When you are typing along entering date in your Worksheet, Excel may sometimes try to second-guess what you are doing and will capitalize words for you. Usually, this is at a point when Excel thinks you are starting a new sentence. I know, it’s a pain. It does this because it assumes that the beginning of a cell is always the beginning of a sentence.
If you find this his occurring more than occasionally, you can turn off that particular feature.
Follow the steps below to learn how:
Display the Excel Options dialog box: In 2007 click the Office button and Excel Options. In 2010, click the File tab of your Ribbon and then Options, in 2013, click File | Options.
- Click Proofing on the left-hand side.
- Click AutoCorrect Options to display the dialog box.
- Be certain the AutoCorrect tab is selected.
- Deselect the Capitalize First Letter of Sentences check box.
- Click OK.
That’s it! You never have to worry about Excel capitalizing words for you again!
