Once an AutoText entry has been created in Word, most folks think that there is no way to change it. That would be kind of silly though wouldn’t it?
Of course, once you have created your AutoText entries you may have a need to edit them later on. There is, however, no special feature for editing AutoText entries in Word.
Follow the steps below to learn how to edit your AutoText entries:
- To edit the AutoText properties like Name and Category, right-click it and select Edit Properties.
- To change the AutoText content, recreate the AutoText.
- Insert it.
- Change it.
- Select it.
- Save it through the AutoText button.
You can give it the same exact name. Word will just ask if you want to define the entry. Saying yes, will overwrite the old entry.
