Friday, January 27th, 2012

There are, as you know, many different methods to create objects using the drawing tools in MS Excel. But suppose you would like to change the position of your objects – how do you do that?

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. Using your mouse, point to the shape you woudl like to move and click on it to select it. Excel will place small squares or circles around the shape. These are called handles.
  2. Using your mouse, point to the object and your mouse pointer should turn into a four-headed arrow.
  3. Click and hold down your mouse button.
  4. Drag the object to the position of your choice.
  5. Relase your mouse button.

Move your Table Quickly

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

For those of you who love to save keystrokes and time, this is the tip for you!

Did you know that in most versions of MS Word you can use your mouse to quickly and easily move your entire table within your documents?  Well you can!  Everyone knows I am the queen of saving time and keystrokes, so I thought I would share this with those of you who weren’t aware of this nifty little feature.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. Hover your mouse over your table. You do not have to click, just hover. When you do you will see in the upper left corner of your table, a small icon that looks like a square with a four headed arrow inside it.
  2. When you click and drag the icon your table moves with it.
  3. Once you have reached the spot in your document where you would like your table to appear, simply release your mouse button and your table has now been repositioned!

Cool beans huh?

Add Background Color to MS Word 2007 Documents

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

MS Word 2007 has some cool features that make word processing a lot more fun. For instance, if you want to dress up a document with a little background color, it is very easy to do now.  I’m not saying that I think colored backgrounds should be used all the time as it doesn’t present a very professional image, but there are times when it can be quite appropriate, such as Christmas newsletters, sale ads, etc.

Follow the steps below to add a color background to your 2007 Word documents:

  1. Launch MS Word 2007 if it is not already open.
  2. Open the document in which you would like a color background.
  3. On the Ribbon, click the Page Layout tab.
  4. In the Page Background group, click the drop-down arrow next to Page Color and select the color you would like for your background.

  • One of the nicest features of MS Word 2007 is that you can hover your mouse over each color to see a preview of how your document will look with that background.
  • Select the background color you like.

That’s it!  You are finished!
