History in Charleston, S.C.

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

It was a long drive down to South Carolina but well worth it!  The history is so rich in Charleston!  It is very cool to actually walk the ground where the civil war was fought.

We have walked for two days straight, through the markets and up and down the streets.  There are horse drawn carriages everywhere and it can be quite odorifierous at times!

We are staying at a very quaint hotel right in the downtown area.  Our first room has some problems but we were moved to a much nicer toom and are quite happy with the accommodations.  The proprietors have bent over backwards to make sure that we are happy with the accommodations.

We have seen Point Patriot and Fort Moultrie and both are rich with history.  The restaurants are great.  We haven’t had a bad meal yet.  Today we had dinner at a restaurant called Magnolias and it was great!  I had seafood over grits which was fluffy grits covered with shrimp, scallops and lobster and a lobster butter sauce.  It was a delicious as it sounds.  This was accompanied by a wonderful glass of Riesling.  The restaurant had tons of ambiance and the service was impeccable.

It is a very good thing that we are doing a lot of walking because I think I need to work off all these calories!

I would highly recommend visiting Charleston and the Pinkney Inn!
