Friday, January 20th, 2012

Someone wrote to me recently because he had a lot of fields in his document and wanted to know if there was a way he could quickly jump from field to field.

The short answer is yes!

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. To jump forward to the next field in your document, click F11.
  2. To jump backwards to the prior field in your document, click Shift + F11..

Everyone knows that I love to save time and keystrokes!

Position Line Numbers in your MS Word Documents

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

I am assuming you know how to add line numbers to your document because I have covered that in the Word Bytes Newsletter.

But did you know that you can modify the distance your line numbers are from the text in your document?

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. Display the Page Layout tab of your Ribbon.
  2. In the Page Setup group, click the Line Numbers tool.
  3. Select Line Number Options to display the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog box.
  4. Click on the Line Numbers button to display the Line Numbers dialog box.
  5. Adjust the measurement in the From Text box to indicate the distance the line numbers should appear from your text.
  6. Click on OK to close the Line Numbers dialog box.

That’s all there is to it!

Click on OK to close the Page Setup dialog box.

Can I Get Rid of Comment in my Comment Balloon?

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

A reader wrote to me recently asking me if he could somehow delete the word “Comment” in the Comment balloon bubble in his documents.

For those of you who have not used the Comment feature in MS Word, the word “Comment” will appear and you key in your comment after it.

Unfortunately, I had to advise my reader that she cannot rid herself of the word “Comment” nor can she change it. The text is hard coded into MS Word

Let’s hope the folks at Microsoft work on this!
