DAY TWO IN ARUBA

Last night we kicked off Carnivale in Aruba, complete with dancing in the street, masks and elaborate costumes.  A great time was had by all!

I cannot post more pictures (although I have plenty) because I forgot to bring my camera cable and don’t want to rack up a huge cell phone bill for data usage.  I will, however, post my pictures when I return home.

We returned from the Carnivale street festival at ten last night and stayed in the bar talking with friends from New Jersey until 1 a.m.  Haven’t done that in a million years!!

Up early today though and outstide to get some exericse and do some window shopping.  The sun is daunting but thankfully there are wonderful tropical breezes both day and night.  It really  is a tropical paradise.  I could definitely get used to this lifestyle!

Lunch and a glass of pinot grigio is calling me under the palm trees.  More tomorrow!

DAY ONE IN ARUBA

We arrived in Aruba yesterday at 5:50 p.m. What a lovely place!  Beautiful blue skies, tropical breezes and turquoise water.  It looks like a picture.

We had a company reception and dinner which was wonderful.  Steel band, tropical drinks flowing, candlelight and lots of good company.  The menu was Filet Mignon, Chilean Sea Bass in Sake reduction (which I had),  salad, cauliflour and green beans.  A wonderful dessert as well – some sort of cheesecake and yes I did!!  On vaction one can cheat on the old diet occasionally right?

Below is a picture of the beach and one of me on the beach.  I hope to post daily about my Aruba vacation but I am using a cell phone for the pictures as I forgot to bring the cable for my camera.

Change Cell Patterns in MS Excel

MS Excel will allow you to change the background patterns used in your cells.  There could be any number of reasons why you may want to do this, but luckily it is very easy to accomplish.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

version 2003:

  1. Select the cells whose patterns you would like to change.
  2. Select Cells from the Format menu to discplay the dialog box.
  3. Be certain the Patterns tab has been selected.

  1. Use the Pattern drop-down list to select one of the patterns available to you.
  2. Click on OK.

Versions 2007, 2010:

  1. Select the cells whose patterns you would like to change.
  2. Click on the Home tab of your Ribbon.
  3. In the Cells group, click the Format tool and then click Format Cells to display the dialog box.

  1. Be certain the Fill tab has been selected.
  2. Use the Pattern Color drop-down list to select the color of your choice for your background.
  3. Use the Pattern Style drop-down list to select the pattern of your choice.
  4. Click on OK.

Cool stuff:  Because any pattern you select appears in the background of your cell, that means that it appears behind any information in that cell. So, if you combine patterns and pattern colors along with other formatting options, you can be very creative with special effects!
