Searching by Headings in MS Word 2010

When you have a very long or complex document you are working on in MS Word, you may not want to search for a word or phrase but rather, you may find it more advantageous to search by headings. Once you have quickly found your heading, you can then may then add or delete text or edit however you choose.

Follow the steps below to learn how to search by Headings :

  1. Click your Home tab.
  2. In the Editing group, click the Find icon, to open the Navigation Pane on the left side of your screen.
  3. In the Navigation Pane, click the Headings tab.
  4. A list of headings will appear in the Navigation Pane.
  5. Click on the heading of your choice in the Navigation Pane.

Word will display the heading in your document for you.

Use your Keyboard to Moved your Cursor

Most folks use their mouse to move the cursor in their Word documents and it is quick and easy. But there are many folks who do not like to move their hands from their keyboard – they just find it to be more efficient and convenient.

The good news is that both factions can do as they please!

Update your Links in MS Excel

If you have linked information in your Excel workboo, that information is updated whenever you open your wookbook. Sometimes however, you may want to update your links manually.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. In version 2007, click the Office button | Prepare | Edit Links to File.
  2. In older versions, click Edit | Links.
  3. Select the link you would like to update.
  4. Click on Update Now or Update Values, depending on which version you own.
  5. Click OK.
