A reader wrote to me asking me how to increment by a specific amount of days in a row in his worksheet. He said he knew how to increment by a day but was at a loss about how to do it with a set number of days between.
He was amazed at how simple this was to do. So if you want to do this in your worksheets, just follow the steps below:
- Key in the first date in a cell. Be certain that it is in a format that Excel recognizes as a date.
- Go to the next cell under that and key in the next date you would like to appear.
- Select both cells.
- Place your mouse over the bottom right of the black square around the selection.
- Left-click with your mouse.
- Hold and drag downward.
Once you stop dragging, you will have a list of evenly incremented dates.
This may not seem like a big deal, but when you are building a very large worksheet, it can save you lots and lots of time!
